The Jury

So you'll know we are honest!

To give everyone a sense of what the jury prize meant, here some information:

The winner of the public prize couldn’t win the jury prize
Neither could Juliana’s, Orione’s, Xnedrabourne’s or An B. Cay’s entry. And Raspy’s lovely ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ couldn’t win either unfortunately because she was in the jury…

Which still left the jury with twelve entries to choose from! Not a mean feat I'm sure.

The jury prize is not a runner-up prize
Which meant that we asked the jury to choose an entry because it had something special to recommend it. We wanted it be sort of an encouragement prize. So reasons to pick a winner were along the lines of:
- A new and promising ‘author’ (in the broadest sense of the word);
- A (slightly) different form or genre;
- The entry had an exceptional or unique quality.
In short: brazenness, spunk (:-P), creativity, beauty and/or daring was to be rewarded, it needed to have a whiff of Janeway in a tank top and Betsy in her arms, of Seven in black cargo pants with smudges on her face and wisps of hair escaping her strict hairdo. Sort of... *grin* get the picture?

Mechanics
- The jury had one week to choose this winner together;
- A majority of 80 % had to agree on the winner, i.e. 4 out of 5 of jury members;
- A hung jury was not an option, a winner had to be picked;
- The jury met secretely in a chat and worked out who would win there;
- Xnedrabourne was the forewoman of the jury, she organized the meeting and made sure everything went according to protocole.

Fair? Good! *grin*
